Dear Diary

New Year = New Resolutions

Bye Bye 2017 & Hello 2018

I am so happy to say goodbye to 2017 because it was so exhausting to go through and keep on smiling; however, I had also a lot of fun.

  • It was a year of adaptations. I came back from a year in San Diego where I met my boyfriend by the end of the year 2015. San Diego was unreal, it was totally a dream came true and I didn’t want to wake up. It wasn’t the real life. The weather and San Diegans personalities didn’t help me to enjoy my comeback home. Don’t take me wrong, I love Belgium and everything that she’s offering. Even though, I love my country, the return slapped me on my face : the rain and cold didn’t help. Thank God, my family was there for me to help me to not be depressed.
  • It was a year of shame. I had to go back to school to get my degree after my gap year in San Diego. It was the toughest thing I had to go through I think because it was difficult to face a failure because of Dutch course. I came back bilingual French-English and I had to redo an exam that I didn’t remember anything about Dutch. I spent a lot of time studying to get the level needed to pass this fucking exam. It was a nightmare, Cian can testify. He was the primer witness who heard all about my frustrations and darkest feelings. I felt like shit until June when I got this fucker, my degree.
  • Moving with my boyfriend who had a few French notions to the French part of Belgium was another challenge, mostly for him. We had to find an apartment, then a job to pay the rent and start to have some savings. I had to find him all documents needed to be able to open a bank account, have a national registration, etc. It wasn’t easy for me neither because I didn’t have any clue about where to find the information and what to do.
  • 2017 offered me a lot of opportunities to meet awesome Irish people. First my boyfriend’s family welcomed me like a member of their clan. I was very happy and surprised how easy it was to get along with them. Also, I met Cian’s friends. It was important for me that his family and friends appreciate me.
  • 2017 also offered me the opportunity to travel a lot between Ireland and Belgium but also in Budapest, Slovakia, Austria, Netherland and now Canada.

Okay, after reminding myself those events, I may miss 2017… I am over it. Now I am very excited for 2018 I am living in Vancouver, Canada with my boyfriend and 2 new roomies (Irish and men again for fucksake!). I found a job after 3 weeks at lululemon athletica and after 3 months I got another challenge. I will start 2018 with a new job at S.I.Systems as a IT and marketing recruiter. It’s quite scary but it’s a good fear. I cannot wait to learn more and improve myself with new skills. My resolutions for 2018 are:

  • Exceed the new goals and tasks as a recruiter.
  • Find a way to extend my Visa and stay another year in Canada
  • Be more organize to write at least 1 post per week for my blog. The goal will be 3 posts a week.
  • Have a bilingual French-English blog. I am thinking about opening my blog to my family and friends. So, I will start to translate the new post from English to French.
  • Have a better intimate relationship with my boyfriend. Having roomies changes our intimacy and everything is not quite satisfying right now.
  • Have a healthy body with a healthy mind. I want to start yoga, eat healthy and go to swim 20 min per day.
  • I want to learn Spanish. By the end of the year 2018, I want to be able to introduce myself, ask basic questions in Spanish.

My list is quite long, but everything is important for me and I will find a way to make it work!

And you? What’re your resolutions?
